Trendland’s Tara Lange put it like this:
"Few architects are as relevant as Piet Boon. In part because of the world’s growing appreciation (obsession really) for Scandinavian simplicity but also because Boon has an uncanny knack for coming impossibly close to what would be described by many, as perfection.”
Of course, Boon does not work alone. He founded Studio Piet Boon, in the village of Oostzaan near Amsterdam in 1983 as a small company specializing in the design of ‘bespoke’ homes. This was a natural if not bold, step for the twenty-seven-year-old builder and contractor turned architect and designer. In 1986 he was joined by another celebrated designer, wife Karin Meyn and the rest, as they say, is history."
Who knows if, one day, a Studio Piet Boon piece will be as collectable and desirable as a Hepplewhite, Sheraton or Adams - and for many of the same reasons. What is certain, however, is that right now it is possible to experience in the ‘Base’ range, that extraordinary combination of comfort, beauty and durability that, if not perfect, comes very, very close!
